Close and reopen the app

If a specific program or browser tab is acting up, fully close it and open it again.

  • Save anything important first.
  • Close every window of the app, not just the active one.
  • For browsers: close all tabs, then reopen and try again.

Restart your computer

A full restart clears memory, applies pending updates, and fixes a surprising number of hard-to-explain problems.

  • Save your work and close your apps.
  • Choose Restart — not just Shut Down – so Windows fully reloads.
  • Wait for sign-in, then try the thing that was broken.
